On the Productivity Loop
EVP, Merchandise, Sam's Club, Retired
In 1975, Rob Voss joined Walmart after working as an automotive oil vendor that called on the company. Once with Walmart, he helped create the first Tire, Battery, and Automotive Center. From there, he was sent to California to investigate a new concept for the company – a membership warehouse club. With a tendency to swim against the current rather than go with it, he was considered to be a “little bit of an agitator” by Sam Walton. Voss worked in the Sam’s division from conception to launch and until he left the company in 1999.
